Carers Week 2011 - “The True Face of Carers” |
Each year Carers Week is organised to highlight and celebrate the contribution that carers make with thousands of carers taking part in the many events and activities taking place throughout the UK.
The theme for this years Carers Week was “The True Face of Carers” and once again Carers Contact Centre organised events for local carers.

Monday: An information stand in Sainsbury's in Telford helped spread the word about the vital contribution carers make and find people who may have not realised that there is help available to them as carers. Sainsbury's also very kindly donated refreshments for the week's other events.

Tuesday: Carers Contact Centre held an Open Day with carers invited to help create a record of the ‘True
Face of Carers’. Some carers wrote poems and comments, others created masks showing how they may hide their "True Face".

Wednesday: A special 2-hour walk was led by Alec Connah (STROWP) and took in some of the South Telford Heritage Trail.

During the week the local radio and press featured locals carers and members of the Carers Contact Centre, telling their stories and helping raise the profile of local carers.
